POSITION TITLE: Equity Performance Analyst

REPORTS TO: Director, Equities


The equity performance analyst is the primary resource within the equity team responsible for performance measurement and attribution. The analyst will monitor the generation of performance attribution reports, will enhance reporting by improving existing reports and developing new ones. The analyst will respond to ad hoc requests from clients and staff, perform quality assurance tests, and provide written analysis of investment performance.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Will work with portfolio managers, internal operations staff and outside vendors to achieve the goal of timely and accurate performance analysis.


Will maintain and monitor daily report production within our performance attribution applications, and add new accounts or reports as needed. Additional reports and data manipulation will be performed by programming in visual basic and R (or S-Plus).


Will create and manage the loading of quantitative factor data into the performance attribution systems.


Will review portfolio attribution reports on a daily basis and be prepared to discuss the drivers of relative performance within the equity portfolios. Will prepare written commentary in response to ad-hoc requests from clients or PanAgora staff.


Perform additional performance related analysis as needed.


Essential Skills and Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Computer Science or related field is required. Master’s degree, CFA or CIPM designation preferred.


At least three years experience working in equity investment management or performance measurement, preferably in a quantitatively oriented firm.

Knowledge of investment performance attribution methodology and portfolio accounting. Familiarity of the performance impact of corporate actions, cash flows, futures margin, and similar transactions. Familiarity with regression analysis.


Ability to program in visual basic is required. Familiarity with a statistical package such as R, S-Plus, or SAS is desired.


Effective communicator – both spoken and written. Ability to work with others to resolve data issues. Creative analytic thinker Puzzled with the ability to enhance the quality of our performance analysis capability.
