Job Description and Job Requirements— The Quantitative Strategies Group seeks a highly trained analyst to contribute and analyze new investment strategies as well as refine current strategies. This individual will be an integral part of the research and portfolio management team, and will report to the director of research and head portfolio manager in the Quantitative Strategies Group. The successful candidate will be able to find the answers to tough technical questions. This person must be able to learn new techniques through self-study and explain them to others. Strong math and statistical analysis skills are important. The ideal candidate will have a Masters at minimum or PhD-level training in Computational or Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Econometrics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Operations research, Mathematics or similar field.
In this position, you are expected to work with limited supervision. The successful candidate must be able to take an idea, plan a course of action, execute the plan in a reasonable amount of time, and deliver results in a thorough and organized presentation. Teamwork is essential – the ability to function effectively in a cooperative environment is a requirement.
Prior experience in investment management is a plus, as is hands-on experience with analysis tools such as Matlab, SPLUS, SAS, SQL Server, FactSet, and Market QA.

THE ORGANIZATION
The Investment Strategies Group delivers advise related to market and economic strategy, financial planning and asset allocation to the internal and external clients of Global Wealth and Investment Management.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This position will be based in preferably Boston or New York, NY.
THE CANDIDATE
As
a member of the Investment Strategies Group, the Sr. Quantitative
Strategist will develop the quantitative components of asset
allocation processes, involving both strategies optimization tools
and tactical allocation processes. The
position requires Ph. D. - level modeling skills including
econometric time series, regression and multifactor analysis.
One must have real-world experience with optimization technique used
in asset
allocation
, as well as modeling of macro influences on asset performance.
Domestic economic and capital markets experience is necessary with
global exposure desirable as well. The successful candidate must be
high energy, results oriented individual who can develop
relationships across the company based on trust, teamwork and
knowledge. Provides quantitative input for strategies to deliver
superior investment results. Responsible for knowledge support for
both tactical and strategic asset allocation.
5 + years of optimization, time series, statistics, and simulation technique experience.
Ability to apply technical analysis to investment strategy.

Job Title: Home Equity & New Product (Reverse Mortgage) Analytics Manager
Job Summary: CRE Home Equity New Product Analytics Manager – Responsible for development of the next generation of Home Equity products. This position reports to the Home Equity New Product Analytics Executive and works with multiple business partners including but not restricted to, Home Equity Product Analytics and Service, Home Equity Pricing, CRE Fulfillment, CRE Servicing, Capital Markets and others as needed to ensure the development and execution of a pricing, strategic and tactical advice to senior leadership and analytical functions that leverage thought and capabilities from multiple sources.
Primary Responsibilities/Activities:
Lead decisions around new product analytical activities:
Generation of decisions stemming from new product analytics that have economic and downstream impacts.
Development of analytical content surrounding new products for ongoing meetings to evaluate its impact in the marketplace.
Valuation modeling through detailed cash flow analysis.
Development and continuous refinement of the valuation model that can rapidly support evaluation of multiple scenarios.
Incorporation of regulatory and legal requirements into business case development and tactics.
Drive technical innovation into the understanding of key valuation drivers.
Articulation of complex analytical methodologies to senior audiences in simple, understandable terms.
Problem definition and analysis in areas of the rollout of the new product.
Coordination to implement and measure/monitor product performance.
Identification of best practices using management by fact methodologies.
Utilization of business performance reporting to execute against goals.
Ownership of all analysis related to the development, testing, rollout and on-going innovation across the entire lifecycle of the product
Close partnership with business teams:
Work with MIS and Reporting partners to understand current home equity segment performance trends and future outlook
Effective collaboration with pricing, profitability and AIM teams to leverage thought and capabilities across all analytical functions
Rigorous analysis development leading to thoughtful and defendable recommendations to executive management.
Partnership development with data and analysis teams in marketing, finance, risk solutions and other consumer product groups to provide strategic and tactical advice to business line executives.
Coordination of committee to align decision-making and communication.

Current Situation/Unique Challenges:
The home equity business is complex due to dynamic market changes, such as interest rates, treasury yields, as well as internal challenges of matrix management, and increasing revenue and growth. These data points must be integrated and analyzed to achieve success. This position will provide critical support to continuing profitable growth. The home equity portfolio exceeds $72BN and is growing at a rate of 20-30% per annum.
Skill Requirements/Qualifications:
4-7 years of strong analytical experience in consumer or commercial banking
MS degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Finance, Engineering, Economics, Physics or applicable fields is a mandatory requirement to be successful in this position. PhD degree preferred.
Prior experience with home equity (preferred), 1st mortgage, insurance or credit card
Very strong financial management skills - understanding of cash flows and discounting principles.
Solid understanding of P&L for consumer lending - knowledge of differences between the economics of open and closed-end lending products is desirable
Adequately demonstrated analytical skills including modeling experience
Ability to prepare and articulately present crisp summaries to executive management
Ability to effectively negotiate with teams from external organizations
Ability to develop and execute processes that involve working with multiple business partners
